Reading your BMI Score

If your body mass index is between 18.5 and 24.9, then you are considered to be in a healthy weight range. A BMI greater than 25 indicates that you may be overweight. If your BMI is greater than 27, you may be clinically obese. The minimum BMI to be accepted as a patient with Island Health Weight & Wellness is 22. This is because medical weight loss is designed for adults who have a medical necessity to lose weight for health related conditions such as diabetes and hypertension. If you have a BMI of 22 or lower and have one or more comorbidities related to weight loss you may still be a candidate for one of our programs. Please give us a call to discuss your options.
