Quick Start Plan
The Quick Start medical weight loss program at Island Health Weight and Wellness combines clinically proven meal replacement products with some regular food and low calorie microwave meals to create a weight loss program that is customized for you.
This weight loss program will reduce calorie intake and help you make good food choices by replacing a large portion of your daily diet with calorie controlled meal replacement products. These include protein bars, shakes, frozen meals and soups that come in a variety of flavors. The meal replacements are easy to take on-the-go and reduce the time involved with shopping for and preparing healthy foods.
The type of meal replacement products used during this program will depend on your needs. Examples of the types of meal replacements you may encounter during this program include:
- OPTIFAST products
- Advanced Health Systems
- Lean Cuisine
- Weight Watchers
The Quick Start plan is ideal for those who want to lose weight, but aren’t ready to commit to a full meal replacement program. During this weight loss program you can typically lose weight faster than with a traditional diet plan.
On average, participants lose up to 10 percent of their initial weight within 8 – 10 weeks on our Quick Start program.
About the Quick Start Plan
The Quick Start plan replaces some of your regular meals and snacks with meal replacement products. You and your provider will create a meal plan with five or six small meals per day at even intervals, and then you may have one freshly prepared, well-balanced meal of your choice.
The short duration between meals will reduce hunger and stabilize blood sugar, making it easier for you to stay focused on your weight loss goals.
The Quick Start plan at Island Health Weight and Wellness includes:
- Meal replacement products
- Ongoing support
- Nutritional counseling
- Regular weigh-ins
- Pre-packaged nutritional supplements
The length of the Quick Start program will depend on your lifestyle needs and weight loss expectations. Following the initial phase of weight loss, participants can continue using the meal replacement products as needed to maintain weight loss.
